Question: I’ve been covered under social security disability for the last 3 years, but my doctor has finally found a combination of drugs that is working, and now he thinks that I should be able to go back to having a real job. I don't feel that I am ready yet, so can I just wait until my social security disability become reviewed and keep collecting the payments until then?
Response: Continuing to collect social security disability benefits when you are no longer disabled may constitute fraud. You are required to notify social security disability when/if you are no longer disabled and/or if your condition changes. It is advisble to contact social security immediately, or to speak with a social security disability attorney about how you can fulfill your obligation to notify social security of your change in status.
