Question: I’ve been working for four months, since I graduated form high school (I’m 18). Recently, I got into a car accident and I’m not disabled and can’t really function at all, so I think I should be eligible for social security disability.
Response: In order to qualify for social security disability, you must have worked for a sufficient amount of time in a covered job, and paid social security taxes. Since you only worked for four months, it is possible that you have not worked for a sufficient amount of time to qualify for social security disability. However, you should speak with an experienced social security disability attorney to determine your eligibility for benefits and to assist you in structuring your claim, if you are eligible.
