The Social Security Administration runs two programs to assist senior citizens with disabilities. These programs deliver benefits seniors need. The first of these programs handles those who have worked over an extended period of time, have paid Social Security taxes and are not in economic straits. The second of these programs, called the Supplemental Security Income program (SSI), assists those who have low or no income and are in poor financial shape. For anyone any Social Security Disability Benefit from either program, they must complete the application process and be accepted into the program. Once accepted, they will receive monthly benefits. These benefits are dependent on different factors for both programs. Each ahs a separate system for factoring in what the financial benefit will be. Additionally, each program allows for those in the program to return to work while still receiving benefits. And on top of that, the SSI program continues to let recipients receive other government program benefits.
