Social Security Card Replacement

Social Security Card Replacement is free if you have had your card lost or stolen. To get a replacement card, you must first show proof of US citizenship and identity. A US birth certificate, passport, Certificate of Naturalization or Certificate of Citizenship are accepted for proving citizenship, while a US driver's license, state-issued non driver identification card, passport, employee I card, school ID card health insurance card or US military card can prove identity. Per year, you can get three replacement cards, and are eligible for 10 replacement cards during your life. These limits can be waived, however, in extreme cases if you can prove not having the card causes you serious hardships. Take these documents, download and fill out an application for a social security card from the government's social security website and go in person to one of the 1300+ social security offices nationwide. You can also mail these documents in, unless you live in New York City, Las Vegas, Orlando, Sacramento, or Phoenix, which require you do complete the process in person.
