Social Security

The Social Security Act of 1935 is a government-run program in the United States that provides social welfare and social insurance programs for every American citizen. Many of these benefits can be accessed through old age, such as Supplemental Security Income; Health Insurance for the Aged and Disabled (Medicare); and Federal Old-Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance. Funds for Social Security are deducted from citizens' paychecks. Social Security, as outlined by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, initially included unemployment insurance, however now the four pillars of social security are death, retirement, disability, and survivorship. Due to the falling income and higher costs of the recent economy, more and more Americans doubt the availability of Social Security.
