Semi Skilled Worker

Semiskilled occupations are more complex than unskilled work and distinctly simpler than the more highly skilled types of jobs. They contain more variables and require more judgment than do unskilled occupations. The trait of alertness is connected with the work activities of close attention to watching machine processes, inspecting, testing, tending or guarding; and the traits of coordination and dexterity with the use of hands or feet for the rapid performance of repetitive work tasks.

Fast Facts

  • The skill level of a job depends on the actual complexities of the work in dealing with data, people, or objects and to the judgments required to do the work.
  • Even though semiskilled occupations require more than 30 days to learn to perform the task, the content of work activities in some semiskilled jobs may be little more than unskilled.
