Food Stamp Program

The food stamp program helps low-income people to buy food. It is a federal program that is administered by State or local agencies. Everyone applying for food stamps must have a social security number and must be a US citizen or qualified alien. A blind or disabled legal immigrant receiving disability benefits is entitled to immediate access to food stamps without a waiting period.
