Disability SSI

The disability SSI (Supplement Security Income) program is a program designed to help those who are disabled or blind that are receiving Social Security benefits but have limited income and resources. To see if a person qualifies for SSI, s system of means-testing is implemented to see if the income and net worth fall below the established income and asset thresholds. In determining these thresholds, many resources are not taken into consideration, such as a person's house or car. This program, due to a qualification system that finds many applicants not eligible, is the most legally challenged of all welfare programs. There is an entire appeals process for those who disagree with the findings of their claim, and people fighting their claim have the right to legal representation from an attorney or other qualified person.
