Disability Claim

Persons with a disability adversely affecting their ability to work or obtain gainful income opportunities may be able to file an application for benefits or a "disability claim" with the Social Security or Supplemental Security Income. Filing a disability claim may result in gaining access to program benefits for disabled claimants and family members and dependants. A person is disabled if he is unable to engage in any substantial activity by reason of any medically determinable condition by a physician or mental impairment which is expected to last for one year or more or result in death.
