Computation Years

The "computation" years are the years selected from the base years in which a claimant earned the most income. The total earnings in the computation years are then added together and divided by the number of months in those years to arrive at the AME or the AIME. To compute the AME or AIME add together the total amount of earnings in the computation years and then divide by the number of months in those years.
