Cessation

Cessation refers to the Social Security requirement that claimants receiving benefits for blindness or a disability must complete forms and provide updated or additional documentation of their conditions so that the Social Security can make a determination through the State Disability Determination Service as to whether or not those benefits should cease or be discontinued. Cessation of benefits results when the benefits paid out are stopped for the reason that such benefits are no longer needed or necessary often because the claimant has been determined to be no longer blind or no longer functioning under a disability by a State disability determination service representative.
